Have a date with Dvořák!

by Philharmonie Luxemburg

Ever thought of having a date with a composer? Ok, I have to admit, it will rather be some kind of "mass dating" with one or more middle-men, but hey, just have a go! I'm sure you'll love it!

This Wednesday, you may meet  Antonin Dvořák and his 6th Symphony. Oh, you already know the piece and the musician and everything about his work and his life? Well, then ok, you may not want  to date him, but instead have a listen to Jean-Guihen Queyras either Thursday or Friday ;-)
Every other person who doesn't know the man nor his work will be more than welcome. Just be curious! You'll discover a great musician through interviews with maestro Jiří Bělohlávek, Philippe Koch (Konzertmeister of the OPL) and Gilles Héritier, the orchestra's solo trombone.

The first part of the concert will be didactic with the presenters (Nicole Max & Tom Leick)  and interviewees trying to answer as many quetions as possible. Dialogues, interaction with the orchestra and video projections will allow to reconstitute the decisive moments of the creation of the work. During the second part, the orchestra conducted by maestro Bělohlávek will then perform Dvořák's 6th Symphony.

Later this season, two more "Dating:" nights will take place, one with Jean Sibelius and another one (presented by Robert Levine!) with the great Ludwig van Beethoven.

So, what do you think? Will you date Mr. Dvořák?
