Concert, capoeira… samba!

by Eva Klein

As part of the atlântico festival, a 3-in-1 experience awaits Brazilian culture enthusiasts at the Philharmonie, as well as all curious minds in search of warmth and good vibes as autumn settles in Luxembourg.

The evening kicks off at 18:00 at the Salle de Musique de Chambre, transformed into a jazz club for the occasion. Hailing from Recife, pianist Amaro Freitas will surprise the audience with his fusion style intertwining the invigorating rhythms of his region and Chick Corea’s legacy. A perfect way to end the day and to get the evening off to a good start!

Building upon that momentum, lucky ticket holders can watch the legendary Gilberto Gil take the stage at 20:00 in a Grand Auditorium that's been sold out for weeks!

If you don't have a ticket, don't worry: why not take this opportunity to grab a drink and take a closer look at the Foyer’s staple white columns? But don’t go too far: a demonstration of capoeira, an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines acrobatic movements, music, and ritual dances, awaits!

Finally, what would Brazil be without Samba? Starting at 21:45, catchy rhythms, festive percussion, and guitar chords will take centre stage, transforming the Foyer into a massive dance floor. The best part? It's free for everyone!

Joy doesn't wait, and, most importantly, it's meant to be shared. So, come one, come all and don’t miss the culminating point of the 2023 edition of the atlanticô Festival!
