Aventure+ 2018/19

by Philharmonie Luxembourg

Two concerts in one: Following performances by the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, the adventure continues in the Foyer with music that will transport you to distant lands, from the USA to Finland, from Russia to France.

Discover the stars of the Foyer concerts:

After having celebrated the works of Philip Glass, Wojciech Kilar - bestknown for his cinematic work with directors Francis Ford Coppola and Roman Polanski - and Rachmaninov with the pianist brothers Lucas and Arthur Jussen, continue the musical journey with the Balalïka Trio.

The concert's focus being on Finnish composers - works by Jean Sibelius, Esa-Pekka Salonen and Kalevi Aho performed by star percussionist Martin Grubinger and the OPL - it is only logical that the Foyer concert's musicians are Finnish as well. Meet Teho, a Finnish duo playing Scottish music!

After the concert with jazz legend and artist in residence Brad Mehldau, the jazz trio around Luxembourgish artist Pol Belardi (vibraphone, composition) joined by Loran Witteveen (keyboards) and Jérôme Klein (electronics) will keep the music going in the Foyer.

The programme of the «Aventure+» concert on March 22 takes us from Paris to New York, presenting the Artist in residence Brad Mehldau as a composer and soloist of a concerto for piano and orchestra. Clark Rundell conducts the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, building a transatlantic bridge between New York and the Paris of Claude Debussy, whose Préludes open the evening.
